Always Be My Baby

"You recognized what that was just hearing the first note?"
"Are you kidding? That first chord progression defined my entire teenhood."
Joel and I discussing Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby."
Song five, below. (As if you need me to tell you that.)

gwen, this is why you are awesome.
Nothing like Mariah! The best is getting a nice Mariah tune randomly on the radio from the 90s; it always makes my day better and makes for a great jam session while in traffic =)
oh mariah. that album SO takes me back. i'm off to listen to it for the first time in a little while. i was on a old-song-finding mission last night, of all the songs from my childhood ... add one more to that list!
oh my god, it's like i just got socked in the heart. this is killing me in the best kind of way. i will definitely be listening to this album all day long!
ugggggh, it's reminding me so hard of how life felt, like, desperately and tragically romantic when i was 14.
Oh dear god, I feel so OLD!
I love how music defines eras and songs are indelibly tied to such specific moments in our memories. My early teenhood was defined by Hungry Like the Wolf. *sigh*
Doot. Do do do, doot. Do do Do do do do do.
Thanks. Now I have this in my head.
Ha! Just heard this on the radio yesterday, for the first time in forever--and totally ROCKED OUT (read: sang at the top of my lungs) on the way to work. If I ever have a signature karaoke song, this would have to be it. (I guess I would have to find some awesome backup singers, too.) Still. Love. This. Song.
DO DO DO DUM. Hahaha I love you even more for this. Come to Sacramento April 3rd plz. We'll go karaoke-ing srsly liz style.
YES. This was the first cd I ever owned. I'll always have love for Mariah!
see, i was always a janet girl. "that's the way love goes." sock it to MY heart ;)
