A Nintendo Party!
Tonight I had a few friends over to play games, eat and chill.
This is the second time I've thrown a Nintendo-sponsored party. The first was for the Nintendo DS (pre-DSi days) in June, 2008 - and that was the start of my relationship with Brand About Town as a brand ambassador for Nintendo. My relationship with the company has matured over the past year and a half - I'm now an advisor to Brand About Town. As a result, I've had the honor of participating in several parties since then (including last year's during BlogHer which knocked it out of the park) and this was the first time hosting at my house.
Justine and Bonnie (in photo below) came in from LA to host (and then gave me all the credit.
I promise, all I did was sweep - they made the magic happen.) They gave us a couple-minute overview and then we set off playing (screaming/laughing/jumping) Super Mario Bros. (on one screen) and the World of Goo (on the other).
Everyone went home with a Wii and an extra controller and other goodies.
Pretty much the sweetest party I've ever had the chance to hostess. I'm thankful to work with incredible companies and hang with good friends. All in one night.
(Make friends with these peeps if you're not already. Maybe if you're real nice, they'll let you come over and hold a controller sometime.) (Click to view full size/peep Twitter handles.)

What a FUN night, Gwen! BIG UPS to you, Joel, Justine and Bonnie for creating a super-fun evening. I am no longer a Wii virgin...and I got to spend some quality time with old and new friends. Awesome. Also, Anne Marie is adorable. I didn't get to say goodbye to her, but please pass along a "Kick butt in school, girl" to her for me. :)
And Nintendo and Brand About Town? They're doing it right.
Thank you, thank you. Now I'm off to go hook up my Wii. :) [And I'm still humbled. What a fantastic surprise!]
in terms of gadget envy a Wii is really, really high on my list...
Wow! What a fantastic party! Sounds like it was a great night.
Gwen, thanks for hosting a fantastic party last night. I was at the first Nintendo party as well and can't say enough about Bonnie, Justine and Nintendo's brilliant marketing. You assembled a fun group of people, provided us with yummy food AND let us play Mario Brothers. Pretty much the perfect night!
I'm honored to have been a part of the fun and extremely grateful for the generosity of everyone involved. Thanks again! As Terry put it last night, you really are like Oprah...
(Also, let Justine know that it meant a lot to me that she did her research and had food available that I could eat!)
I didn't know you could play World of Goo on the Wii. I have it on my desktop. Will be checking that out.
Looks like an amazing party! Congrats.
The part was a blast. The food was delicious. The location was perfect. The gifts were unexpected and amazing. I am overwhelmed and full of gratitude. Many thanks to everyone that made this such an amazing evening, including the other guests. I will see you all online. ;D
Is there a Wii for the garden?
Last night was so awesome. I am so very thankful that I was included and that you invited me to your home. The food was awesome (those dessert bars with the chocolate and oats were freaking amazing... even though I felt kind of guilty eating it in front of Tara), your place is beautiful, and the company was outstanding! I love the Wii (yay!), but I also love that I left with new friends. Thank you sooooo much for everything!
PS: the group picture is super cute! Thank you for posting it!
gwenbell! thank you ever so much for hosting such a beautiful evening! opening your home with joel, and justine and bobbie for all your marketing and sweet gifts to us humbled attendee's. i am EVER so grateful for my wii-treats, meeting faces behind the names, and all the wonderful new peeps as well.. . super swell evening, i feel blessed and look forward to a 'wii date online! bring it ya'll ;)
That looks like a lot of fun! Nintendo is on to something here. The Wii is the kind of product where giving away 7, 8 or 10 can in the long run lead to selling 30, 40 or more. We got a Wii back in November, and I know it'll just be a matter of time for some of our friends.
That is so awesome that you got to host a Nintendo Wii party! Really smart marketing idea for Nintendo! Definitely a good way to get word of mouth going!
How did you get involved with Nintendo? How did you become a brand ambassador!
Thank you so much!!! What a spectacular evening!!!
