July 23 / Birthday / Best Night Out 2009

{This is post #5 of 31 for The Best of 2009 Blog Challenge - Get Started Now. Did you have a night out with friends or a loved one that rocked your world? Who was there? What was the highlight of the night? }

I celebrated my birthday with more than one thousand women this year. I was in Chicago for BlogHer 2009. And the entire day was a giant chocolate-fest-of-a-party. But there was a moment that really stands out in my mind. And it was with these three ladies. The Kirtsy team, Laura, Gabby and Laurie.

The Kirtsy Crew (on my bday)

I'm not one to get gushy and sentimental, but these three mean the world to me. And of course I loved everyone I saw that night and I really loved the cake that security let me bring onto the airplane (created with my friend Marianne - I mostly just licked the spoon) - and that I got to share it with about thirty friends.

Unveiling the Cake

I enjoyed everything about the day. From waking up in a hotel room, to going to lunch where we dined mostly on chocolate with Jenny "No Photos Please" The Bloggess.

(But really, I seriously had three bricks worth of chocolate on my birthday.}

It was decadent, it was princess-like and it was all in the company of women who absolutely rock my world. I have nothing but crazy thanks and love for you - and the promise of celebrating your birthdays big stylie if we get the chance to do so.

I am blessed by friends who show me their love in the most beautiful ways.

Including the naked ways.

Jen, you were the icing on my birthday cake.

The very best birthdays are always those overflowing with love. So happy you were able to celebrate yours in just this way! And btw, you rock that dress.

I am struck by how women can meet, share, laugh, love, celebrate and write (share) about it.

Guys don't (generally). They meet, compete, laugh and definitely don't blog about important relational and inspirational aspects.

Too bad right, there's so much potential and good that goes unplucked.

Cheers and Happy Birthday:-)

I so love this. And not just because it's awesome...but also because I think I was the only person in the world who hadn't seen Jen in all her glory and now I just have.

Fried gold, my friend.

Wow! Isn't it a brilliant feeling to know the kinds of people who will make you a cute, awesome, out-of-this-world cake just because it's your birthday? I love that. That cake is insanely awesome, and it sounds like the celebration was, as well.
