The Two Mile Trip / 2009 Best Trip + TripIt Pro Giveaway
Updated December 2. Winners of the TripIt Pro Giveaway (determined by random.org): Dee Wilcox, Northern Belle & Meg Brothers. Congrats, all!
Two days ago, on the flight home from Vancouver, I was reading an article in Psychology Today. In "Timely Makeover," Carlin Flora says, "Unless you're a truly frazzled frequent flyer, you know which time zone you're in."
Instantly, I was the weird chick in 23C laughing out loud at herself. I had no idea if I was in PST or MST. I literally didn't know what time zone I was in. And not for the first time this year.

60,000 miles by plane this year (thanks to TripIt* for making me feel guilty about my carbon footprint by putting it in MASSIVE numbers there when I log in). Japan, Mexico, Canada. East Coast, West Coast. My feet have been off the ground as much as they have been on it. I could easily choose my trip to any of the places I've been as the best.

I loved those trips and the people I spent time with. And the takeoffs and landings. But my best trip this year was two miles short. From a rental (The City Cabin) on Broadway in Boulder, Colorado where I was driven to drink. To owning (The Pop Loft) in north Boulder.
It's home to this wanderlusting nomad. A place to sit. To stretch. A place from which to launch.

What was your best trip in 2009?
*The Giveaway
You may have seen me gush about TripIt on Twitter last month. Well, I'm a fan.
To kick off The Best of 2009 Blog Challenge I've teamed up with TripIt to give away three TripIt Pro Accounts.
Enter to win
1. Sign up on the list using your blog or Twitter name
2. Write a post on your blog about your best trip in 2009. (Optional: Post to Twitter. Tag it #best09)
3. Three random winners will be chosen tonight by midnight
So get those posts written. If you win, you'll get your code via Twitter or email. If you get an account but don't want one, pay it forward to a frequent flier in your life.
Can't be bothered to blog? Get a free account. And there's a free iPhone app, too. Or throw down the $69 a year and support a great team and application. It's a commitment to yourself to travel more in 2010. (Only drawback? Massive carbon footprint.)
The Fine Print: I have no affiliation with TripIt whatsoever, other than benefitting from the app on a regular basis while traveling. When you travel 60,000 miles in a year, you have to stay organized. If you have questions about the application, contact them directly.

Seeing your pictures of Japan made me nostalgic for my vacation there several years ago. Looks like a lovely time.
Hi There! I love the Best of 09 Challenge and am challenging myself to write every day (we'll see). Perhaps you could post the winners from yesterday's here (and any future winners or extra awesome posts) so we can read the best (I'd love to read all 269 blogs, but it just ain't gonna happen).
Carina Post edited today to reflect the winners. These were determined by random.org. Another #best09 upcoming giveaway will be hand chosen.
Just wanted to say thanks for the giveaway, Gwen! I'm planning to log some miles in 2010, so a TripIt Pro account will come in really handy.
This blog challenge has been a blast so far. Thanks for elevating the good and building community like this. It's really great to see so many people sharing their stories. Next year's "new favorite blog" post might just be impossible to write. :)
