In Awe: Naturally Boulder, Lizelle Lotter, Bryce Widom, Personal Manifestos, The Weekend of Love + 09.09.09

You know how they told you it all happens at once? Well, it does.
And I'm overwhelmed by the goodness and joy flowing my way right now.
Let's start with Boulder even though I'm in Houston as of two hours ago.
Last week I had the opportunity to speak at the Naturally Boulder Days conference which featured the thriving natural and organic community in Boulder. Waylon Lewis of Elephant Journal covered the event - and he offered his expertise during the panel I spoke on (it was called Social Media Frenzy) - Way has his finger on the pulse of the green and organic industries - and he really gets how to use tech to reach his audience. The two of us talked about how you can be a yoga practitioner with a meditation practice and still very much be in the "tech scene" - the two aren't mutually exclusive.
If the subject intrigues you, read What Can Yoga Teach Us About the Social Web?
One of the highlights for me was when Casey exclaimed at the gala dinner, "well, we can be sure it's all organic!" and pointed to a green inchworm making its way across the table.
Each speaker received a box of natural Boulder products. Delicious!
Lizelle Lotter
Lizelle is the photographic genius responsible for Marybeth's wedding photos (and the photo at the top). She and I had a photography lesson last year when she was in town from South Africa. I decided to work with her in the future. This time when she was in the country I got the chance. Joel and I did a session with her that was covered this week by Rock 'n Roll Bride. Lizelle, South Africa, Rock 'n Roll. Pretty much the coolest thing.
Ever.
Next stop: South Africa!
The Weekend: Denver
Joel and I spent Friday night in Denver. We started the evening at Root Down - a lovely restaurant with Organic Carrot & Red Curry Soup that might make you weep. It did me.
Then we went to Little Man Ice Cream. Which is shaped like a giant tin of milk:
After that we went to see Bryce Widom's opening for his new project: 1000 Views of God. I wish I could buy all thousand. And I'm not even kidding. Bryce is the kind of person whose presence holds you. Not in a creepy way - like he wants your attention. The truth is, he is masterful at giving you his - really holding space for you to speak your heart's truth. Bryce's work will open you wide, wide.
Also, he doesn't mind goofing off a bit.

Your Personal Manifesto
Well, I can tell you this, I never expected it to happen. But it did. The post I wrote for last week - How to create your personal manifesto - didn't just outperform any post I've ever written. It also outperformed any page I've written (outpacing even my homepage. Which cracked me up when I saw that this morning. Several folks have asked how I like Squarespace since I moved over from WordPress in June. One thing I really like is how lovely the graphics and stats are - and how they are updated in real-time. And you don't have to be a mathematician to comprehend 'em.)
How to create your personal manifesto is currently featured at
I'm humbled to be included by you in your write-ups and challenges to your readers...and I was so stoked to see Masafumi created his vision of his life inspired by the post. Seriously, I'm in awe. Never expected it to touch you the way it did - and so happy to have brightened your day a bit!
Upcoming
I'm in Houston at the moment for Interactive Strategies '09 and to spend time with so many friends I love - Tomorrow I'll be speaking on GlitchWell - an experimental talk about a concept I'm releasing to the public for the first time at #is09 (social web pro tip: use that tag to follow the conference live all day tomorrow). Last I checked the session won't be live-streamed but I plan to make my slides available after the talk.
As if this isn't enough excitement for one lifetime, rad chicks Sarah and Liz will be in Boulder for the clothing swap this weekend: September 12. Tell your friends.
There have been questions about how to swap. Pretty simple. Bring as much or as little of your lightly used (or new) clothing and accessories as you like. We'll have the room arranged by size - you come in, get a drink, pour out your bag(s) and the fun begins. Less one-for-one, more free-for-all. All clothing left at the end will go to support local women in need.
Oh, yeah. It's going to be so fun.
Now I have to get back to prep for tomorrow's talk. 09.09.09.
Only comes once in a lifetime, right?
