Unplug: How to

"What sets [Gwen Bell] apart from the slew of young, hip pro-Facebookers out there is that she not only translates the complicated language of social media, she also teaches technologists to unplug." - Sheryl Sulistiawan, Fast Company

Want to Get Your Hands Dirty? It's June. Time to Water Your Social Web Seeds.

Kirtsy + Microsoft Connect Up for Hands on Social Media Across the Nation

I went to Seattle for the first time during the last week of May. I was there to visit Microsoft. It was my first trip to Seattle, my first day trip - I flew in and out in under twelve hours. Two trips through security. Joel made two trips to the airport to drop off and retrieve me. I was taken through a walk-through of Microsoft's Small Business tools. And that, along with several social media modules, is what Kirtsy has teamed up with Microsoft to roll out across the nation this month. Hands on Social Media. With Kirtsy. Sponsored by Microsoft. The first Hands On is on June 8th in Charlotte. See the complete list of cities and dates on the tour, and to register.

Oh, it's rad. If we're not coming to your city this time, and you wish we would, let us know. It's good for us to know for next time.

Northern Colorado Entrepreneur Panel, June 12

In two weeks, on June 12, I'll be part of a panel of entrepreneurs in Northern Colorado, "Integrating Social Media into your Marketing Strategy." If you can make it, sign up, otherwise, video will be available after the event. I'm sure it's going to be a fun, interactive time. Always is when you get a bunch of talented entrepreneurs in a room together. And say, "go!"

BlogHer Boulder/Denver Pre-Meet & Greet! At The Cup, Boulder June 20

All the details on the BlogHer site, but suffice it to say there's already buzz building around the pre-meet. Even if you aren't going to BlogHer this year, you're still welcome to attend and see how much fun it can be when a group of passionate, dedicated and new bloggers get into a room together. Who knows, it may even be a catalyst to jump-start your own blog.

ATLAS Social Media Series at University of Colorado

Many of you have asked to see video of the lecture series I taught in March-April at The University of Colorado in the ATLAS building. Video is up (thanks to Bruce Henderson, editing rockst*r!). As is a summary of what we covered during the series.

To get an idea of the series, this is the final lecture, with panelists Jeffrey Larrimore, Joel Longtine, Casey Capshaw, Chelsea Brady, Ryan Oelke and Forest Linden. Enjoy the series.

I hope this post gives you a sense of what I'll be up to, with you, this month.

In addition to this I'm migrating this blog off of WordPress and over to Squarespace where it is transforming from a blog into a full-fledged site. And I'm thrilled beyond words to be able to work with the talented and patient Krystyn Heide aka Squaregirl on this project. You occasionally run into a human being that can help bring your dreams to life. Krysytn is one of those people. I can't wait for you to see what we've been creating. (Mostly, I've just been going, "what about this? what about that!" and she's been the mid-wife for this beautiful, upcoming site.) Ooh! It's going to be so sweet!

That's June. Expect frequent updates. And keep your eyes open for hedgehog-like monsters.

There will be tiny monsters.
