Thank you for your comments and kudos, all.
Micah, I'm not sure. I guess that activists have tried to make sure that a "fair" number of women and minority groups are represented in all things. How practical is this? And how often is the balance gotten right, even in uni. admissions offices? What constitutes right?
I think it's up to individuals w/in underrepresented groups to step up and stand out. It's hard and takes practice, but it's a necessary part of life. For me, at least.

Gwen,

There always seems to be women groups (NCWIT, BlogHer, etc.) that show the sheer number of techy women, but these women never seem to truly permeate the tech world. What do you think its the roadblock?

Why do you think programs like TechStars dont set aside X number of slots for women?

Great interview - Blogher must have been awesomely energizing!

The Boulder startup scene doesn't get enough time in the spotlight, I'd love to see this series focus on that...

What a great interview with David Cohen! I just wanted to say that even though my husband and I were not accepted into TechStars, we have been able to get invaluable advice from David Cohen. He has tirelessly given us feedback on our soon-to-be-released product, and without his input and guidance, we'd still be at square one (instead of square one-and-a-half!). If he had not been so kind as to respond to a simple email, I don't know if we would have gotten going; it's hard to find someone you know can help you, and most people in David's position make themselves difficult to contact (or don't return emails). It was frustrating for me at first because many VCs and angel investors say they want to help and mentor you, but they won't respond when you actually hit them up for advice. I don't know that David Cohen gets any sleep (ever), but my husband and I are very thankful and appreciative that he (seems to be) tireless and always willing to help!
